Our Heritage
The Great Freeze
The “Big Freeze” of 62/63 saw 8-foot snow drifts across the south. Our original Consecration summons for December 5th remains in the archive—a testament to the weather that forced a delay in the interests of safety and fellowship.
Consecration & The First Feast
RW Bro Lt-Col R H Ingham Clark presided at High Town Road. The evening concluded with a legendary festive board:
In Sight of the Hill
Named after the high wooded area of Ashley Hill, the Lodge moved to Linden Hall in 1982, finally meeting within sight of its namesake before transitioning to our current home in Sindlesham in 1985.
The Founders’ Vision
Led by W Bro John Jones JP (Managing Director of J M Jones Construction), our founders were men of mature standing. They sought a Lodge where ritual was excellent, but proceedings were efficient—a tradition maintained today through our fortnightly Class of Instruction.
