Craft Freemasonry is a journey taken in three stages. Each degree is a ceremony that uses the tools of the old stonemasons to make a point about how to live. They aren’t exams. They’re experiences you share with the lodge, and they stay with you.
- Entered ApprenticeYour introduction to the lodge. It’s about the foundations of character: honesty, moral awareness and the equality of all people. Every new member is a “rough stone” that takes work to shape.
- FellowcraftThe degree of learning. It encourages you to keep developing your mind, through the arts and sciences, and to put what you can do to use for the people around you.
- Master MasonThe most profound of the three. It deals with legacy, integrity and mortality. As a Master Mason you’re a full member of the lodge, and welcome to visit lodges across the world.
After the third degree
Becoming a Master Mason is where the real journey starts. You’ll take on an office in the lodge and move through the roles year by year, learning parts of the ceremonies as you go, with others helping you along.
We don’t publish the details of the ceremonies. Part of their value is experiencing them for yourself.
